Life in the Slow Lane

Treasure Trove

I work with some truly talented and wonderful women. The fact that one of them just got done running Beat the Bridge and brought me back freshly roasted Zoka coffee is just a bonus. She even loaned me her copy of 50 Shades of Gray. Guess I know what I’m doing Sunday.
Friday, we get off work for a half day during the summer. It gives me mommy time to do what I want. Today I felt like thrifting. I scored!
Vintage linens to sew with above. Bargain shoes below.
Vintage pattern .25.  I will be modifying it, but like the style.
Total for my thrifting booty? $5.50. That’s right, Born shoes for .50.
After my thrifting haul, I remembered Joann’s big sale this weekend. 5 for $5 Simplicity patterns.

Closest store is 45 minutes away. I didn’t really want to drive and I tried to figure out a way to score the patterns. My brain was working hard and BAM! I called Wal-Mart to see if they ad match Joann. I think I am the first person to ask that in our area, it took a little bit for the answer but they said yes. Win!

Maxi dress!  Actually, I’m making several views from this dress.

I’ve had a big crush on this Lisette pattern for quite some time.

This shirt will be great for casual and work use.  I think different fabric and finished will really lend versatility to this.

2363 will make a great Boho tunic and dress.  I’m not sure I can pull off that Maxi look at5’1, but I might give it a whirl. The 1940’s repro is for my fall wardrobe building.  By then I might be brave enough to try something a little more tailored. I am so excited that I got the 5 for $5 and didn’t have to drive.  More sewing in the future!

  1. I want that maxi dress pattern and added it recently to me mile-long wish list (I’m planning a trip to the US this year so the plan is empty suitcase going to, [hopefully] full suitcase coming back, LOL!)

Re:FSoG, I got the free ff but I don’t dare open it, the excerpts are just too painful for the Eng+Fr teacher that I am. Did you see the drinking game?

Although it’s meant as a joke, from what I’ve read, might not be a good idea to do this with real alcohol, LOL! Have a nice week-end!

  2. It’s hard to not have a big wish list of patterns and fabrics!

I figured I should read since its caused quite a stir. it’s a holiday weekend here, so maybe I should try that game. Teehee. I still need to read The Hunger Games too. I already have a list of books to read/buy. With all the reading, sewing and knitting I want to do, it’s amazing I can hold a job. ;)

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoy your weekend and filling your suitcase in the States.

Tell me what you think
